CE-PRINCE Project - Transnational Action Plans for circular and green public procurement across central Europe

The CE-PRINCE Interreg Central Europe project is a unique initiative for a green Procurement and Innovation Network for Circular Economy, co-funded by the European Union. It is a collaborative effort of 10 Central European partners and 14 associated partners.

The partnership aims to support the transition to a Circular Economy in Central Europe by leveraging Green Public Procurement as a means to improve companies’ circularity while reinforcing the public sector’s capacity to publish tenders containing more and more elements of circularity. The project focuses on four priority sectors: agri-food, construction, manufacturing, and tourism-related services.

To translate the objectives identified in the Transnational Strategy of CE-PRINCE into coordinated action, the Partnership  has developed two Transnational Action Plans:

  • Public sector Action Plan: a shared framework to support national, regional, and local public authorities in embedding circular and environmental criteria into purchasing processes. : a shared framework to support national, regional, and local public authorities in embedding circular and environmental criteria into purchasing processes.

  • Private sector Action Plan : a coordinated approach to help enterprises align internal processes with Circular and Green Public Procurement criteria, better navigate procurement requirements and strengthen collaboration with the public sector.

The Action plans define a structured set of activities to be developed from now until November 2026. The partnership of CE-PRINCE is looking ahead of a busy and impactful year, with activities including capacity-building sessions, peer-to-peer exchanges for both the public as the private sector, piloting tenders, and the development of very helpful practical tools and templates.

These Action Plans mark a pivotal step in closing the gap between the public sector and private enterprises, while strengthening the strategic role of Green Public Procurement as a key driver of the circular transition across Central Europe.
